The movie is now called The Matrix: Resurrections as the official title.
The Matrix 4 brings back Keanu Reeves as Neo and Carrie-Anne Moss as Trinity. Jada Pinkett Smith who played Niobe from The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions, Lambert Wilson who played Merovingian, and Daniel Bernhardt as Agent Johnson are returning characters. Christina Ricci, Neil Patrick Harris are new to The Matrix universe as well Jessica Henwick, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Ellen Hollman, Jonathan Groff, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Max Riemelt, Brian J. Smith, Telma Hopkins, Erendira Ibarra, Andrew Lewis Caldwell, and Clayton Watson.
Lana Wachowski is directing. David Mitchell, and Aleksandar Hemon are writers on the film.
The original The Matrix was released in 1999 and revolutionized filmmaking, sci-fi and action cinema FOREVER with visual effects like ‘bullet-time’, and martial arts wire work or wire-fu, as well as Hollywood banking on SEQUELS. This was all before modern superhero movies from Marvel or DC.
The highly anticipated sequel to the popular sci-fi cyberpunk franchise is expected to be released in December 2021!
The Matrix: Ressurections is officially a CHRISTMAS MOVIE.
