Deadline reports that the Highlander reboot from John Wick director Chad Stahelski is moving forward with some exciting casting news. Henry Cavill known for playing Superman is ‘in talks for one of the lead roles’ for Lionsgate’s popular sword fighting franchise. Deadline
Kerry Williamson is attached to do the screenplay. Neal H. Moritz, Josh Davis are producing. Amanda Lewis, Patrick Wachsberger, and Gregory Widen will exec produce.
Little is known about the new Highlander, but it was mentioned previously by Deadline as one of Stahelski’s many projects in the works.
It should be exciting to see what direction the project will take, but one thing is for sure, Chad Stahelski will bring the stunts, and action while Henry Cavill will bring the star power.
The original Highlander film was released in 1986 and starred Christopher Lambert and Sean Connery. There was also a popular USA series starring Adrian Paul called Highlander: The Series, and the spin off with Elizabeth Gracen Highlander: The Raven.
Highlander was created by Gregory Widen as a college screenwriting project which was sold and developed into Highlander.
The Highlander series follows the lives of Immortals who never die unless they are beheaded in a dual against another Immortal. Throughout their lives they experience wars, famines, family life, but never age.
