A great artist and pop culture icon has died. David Bowie has lost an 18-month battle with cancer. Known for his genre defying music, and iconic film appearances, Bowie leaves behind a timeless legacy of art that has inspired and influenced generations of artists and music makers.
The British artist was born in Brixton, London in 1947. He studied art, music, and design at an early age. His music career took off in the late 60s, and 70s with Space Oddity to Hunky Dory, Ziggy Stardust and continued through the 80s and 90s with consistent unique music and personal style.
Bowie continued to make music with ‘The Next Day’ being his 24th album and ‘Blackstar’ being his 25th and final studio album release.
His death at the age of 69 is tragic.
