PARAMOUNT FINDS WRITER FOR STAR TREK MOVIE KALINA VAZQUEZ | MOVIES | SUSHIBOMB.NET

STAR TREK 4

The next Star Trek movie in the Kelvin timeline series has found a writer! Kalinda Vazquez a writer on Star Trek: Discovery has been hired by Paramount Pictures to write a Star Trek movie and JJ Abrams’ Bad Robot is producing it!

“Vazquez has written on Star Trek: Discovery, and insiders said this is a blind deal for an original movie that she hatched, one that expands her role in the Trek Universe. Vazquez was a co-executive producer on Fear the Walking Dead.” Source Deadline

Vazquez has written mostly for TV with credits on Fear the Walking Dead, Runaways, Once Upon a Time, Nikita, Human Target, and Prison Break.

The last Star Trek movie, Star Trek: Beyond was released in 2016 and didn’t do well for investors. It was the third in the Star Trek Reboot movies.

Do we really need a FOURTH Star Trek movie?

The Star Trek movies starring Chris Pine, Simon Pegg, John Cho, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, and Karl Urban take place in the Kelvin timeline completely different from Star Trek: The Original Series, and Star Trek: The Next Generation, which take place in the Prime timeline.

The cast of the Star Trek series aren’t getting any younger, and isn’t the point of the JJ Abrams reboot to explore the YOUNG crews stories?

With so many Star Trek series from Alex Kurtzman for Paramount+ a new Star Trek film might seem out of place. Unless of course the new Trek film some how connected to the current series Discovery, and Picard or wraps up the JJ Abrams reboot with a proper send off.

Talk of a new Star Trek film has been going on for a while now. Remember Quentin Tarantino’s Star Trek idea? There was also a pitch by director Nicholas Meyer who directed Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan, and Star Trek 6: The Undiscovered Country.

Welcome to development Hell, Star Trek! Maybe it’s time to leave Star Trek out of the movies?
