TV | STAR TREK: DISCOVERY FIRST LOOK NEW TRANSPORTER ROOM TECHNOLOGY MICHELLE YEOH Sonequa Martin-Green Sonequa Martin-Green

BEAM ME UP

The iconic “Beam Me Up, Scotty” transporter technology that has appeared in one form or another in every Star Trek show/movie since the original series, has a yet another new look for the upcoming show Star Trek: Discovery. New look for OLD technology.

The transporter is used for ‘beaming’ people and or objects from the starship down to a planet. It breaks down particles and transports them to a targeted spot. The technology has always been risky even in latter shows like The Next Generation series.

What could possible go wrong with early transporter technology on Discovery?

Pictured Michelle Yeoh as Philippa Georgiou: Captain of the Shenzhou. Sonequa Martin-Green as Michael Burnham:
First officer of the USS Shenzhou, referred to as “Number One”.

Discovery is set 10 years before Captain Kirk’s USS Enterprise. Keep in mind there are TWO starships in Star Trek: Discovery. The U.S.S. Shenzhou, and the U.S.S. Discovery. The transporter room pictured is on the U.S.S. Shenzhou. Expect to see another style of transporter room on the U.S.S. Discovery.

The style of the technology and uniforms looks far more advanced than that of the 1966 original series, TOS.

CBS announced Star Trek: Discovery will debut Sunday, Sept. 24 (first on CBS, then shifting to CBS All Access streaming service).
