PRINCESS LEIA

Han Solo is seen comforting Princess Leia in the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer. Why is Princess Leia distressed?

This shot of Princess Leia, and Han Solo can be as simple or as complicated as the fans want. Lots of speculation, and rumor but a movie trailer is NEVER the whole story nor is it told in the correct storytelling order.

 

So think about the intention of the filmmakers: To establish an older Princess Leia to the viewer.

But what else do we see?

1 – Princess Leia doesn’t look too happy. Distressed, sad?

2 – Princess Leia and Han Solo are standing on the runway/tarmac/Airport apron of the Resistance fleet.

We can assume by these visual clues:

1- This shot can be the first time the two characters Han and Leia meet.

We can also assume:

2 – This shot can be the moment the two characters Han and Leia separate.

Will Han Solo go off to battle?

We can also assume:

3 – This is merely a touching moment for the two characters in reaction to something larger or ominous.

Does Princess Leia just want comfort from worrying about the Dark Side and the impending war? Did someone close to Princess Leia and Han, die or go missing?
