PBS series “Finding Your Roots” edited out part of their interview with Ben Affleck, to conceal the actor’s slave owner ancestor roots, uncovered by Wikileaks.  The episode which aired in 2014, did not make mention of his family history.  Henry Louis Gates host of the PBS show, was asked to ‘ignore’ that aspect of his heritage in an email exchange with Hollywood executives.

Fans reacted to a recent Google+ Poll in which we asked if this changed their mind about Ben Affleck playing Batman in the upcoming Batman v Superman.

Based on 341 votes (as of 4/20/2015), 60% said NO, and 40% said YES.

Batman is a worldwide phenomena loved by fans of all ages, genders, and ethnicities. By Affleck choosing to ignore this aspect of his heritage he silences what could have been a contribution to the ongoing race in America conversation. Instead he chose to hide it, calling into question PBS and their  journalistic integrity.
