MOVIES | CHARLIZE THERON MODERN FEMALE ACTION STAR

With ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ right around the corner (MAY 15 2015), big stars Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron will explode on screen in  George Miller’s latest addition to the desert dystopian Mad Max franchise.

This is not the first time that Theron has been in a big budget action flick. The talented actress has a diverse portfolio of work from dark dramatic films like ‘Monster’, and ‘North Country’, to comedy, science fiction and action. Truly she has incredible range as an actor and the figure of a comic book super heroine.

Theron also recently spoke out about witnessing her mother shoot her abusive father at the age of 15.

Let’s take a look back at some of Charlize Theron’s memorable action films.

AEON FLUX (2005)

Adapted from the animation by Peter Chung which originally appeared on MTV Liquid Television in the 1990s. This live-action adaptation was a departure from the source material it’s been described as a ‘loose adaptation’ and was not well-received by fans or critics. Theron, flips, kicks, and shoots her way through the movie.

PROMETHEUS (2012)

Ridley Scott’s return to sci-fi, in this prequel / introduction to the xenomorph origins. The film was polzarlizing to audiences. Some expected a direct clone of ‘Alien’ and ‘Aliens’, but instead got a mixed bag. Some people love the movie for it’s style and themes, others hate it. There is Prometheus 2 in the works, but Charlize Theron is not expected to return, as her character was SPOILER killed off.

 MAD MAX: ROAD FURY (2015)
