The totally cool Power Rangers fan film ‘Power/Rangers’ from music video director Joseph Kahn, and producer Adi Shankar. It stars James Van der Beek, and Katee Sackhoff.

Saban Entertainment, the company that owns/owned the Power Rangers franchise had nothing to do with this film.

This is definitely not your kid friendly Power Rangers. Kahn has amped up the action , visual effects, and darkness of the Power Rangers. Blood and brutality. It’s like a cross between Michael Bay’s Transformers, meets Halo, meets Tarantino chop socky. It’s a fantastic short film, if not a very good proof of concept.

With over 3 million views on Youtube this fan film is definitely catching some attention. A whole generation of kids grew up watching the Power Rangers on TV, and with this dark re-imagining that fits neatly into the trend/era of dark superhero movies, you’ll be begging for a big feature film or more online episodes.

Oh, and that Power Rangers theme remix, is KILLER.
