GAMING | 25 YEARS OF SONIC THE HEDGEHOG SEGA GAMING GAMERS
SONIC THE HEDGEHOG
It’s hard to believe that it has been 25 years of Sonic the Hedgehog. The blue videogame headgehog was originally introduced as Sega’s response to Nintendo’s Mario Bros. creating a mascot rivalry for home video game console gamers in the 90s.
Time flies, and the heated battle is long gone but both Mario, and Sonic have continued to be successful, profitable franchises for new generations of gamers.
Sonic remains the cooler, faster, more extreme game character though. Today the character celebrated 25th Anniversary. Cheers to Sonic!
So what does the future hold for Sonic? More gaming, and animated properties. The Sonic the Hedgehog official twitter account has hinted as a collaboration with French electro house DJ Madeon. Or at least licensing his music in some sonic context.
@madeon How many gold rings does it take to use your music in a new Sonic game trailer? Asking for a friend.
