MOVIES | WHAT WE WANT TO SEE IN THE NEW SEGA SONY SONIC THE HEDGEHOG LIVE-ACTION MOVIE
Sonic the Hedgehog is getting a new movie, a live-action movie which will most likely feature loads of computer graphics.
Sonic along with Knuckles, Tails, and even villain Doctor Eggman aka Robotnik are expected to return in the new movie.
Sega Sammy group has teamed up with Sony Pictures to turn their mascot into a big live-action feature film. Following in the footsteps of Ubisoft (Assassin’s Creed), turning their videogame properties into entertainment for big screen. What could possible go wrong?
CEO Hajime satomi revealed this new venture in The Worldfolio Sega’s new era in entertainment:
“Sega Sammy Group is currently planning with Sony Pictures to create a live-action and animation hybrid ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ movie scheduled for release in 2018. Like with this CG animation production, we would like to expand our business into other entertainment areas beyond what we are currently involved.”
The lightening fast blue Sega mascot has been part of pop culture for decades, seen as the main rival to Nintendo’s Mario Bros. in the 90s with top selling video games.
However, the popularity of Sonic has dwindled since the demise of the Sega Dreamcast console system, though Sega has released Sonic games over the years they haven’t managed to capture the excitement or gain traction the character once had.
Could this be the second coming of Sonic the Hedgehog?
Here are a few things we’d like to see in the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie adaptation.
EXTREME SPORTS
Action, but most of all SPEED.
CATCHY TUNES
Sonic the Hedgehog games are known for their soundtracks. Rock, pop, catchy tunes that complimented the fast pace and themes of the videogames.
If these composers or vocalists could be added to the new Sonic movie soundtrack that would definitely be fan service.
‘Super Sonic Racing’ composed by British composer Richard Jacques of Sega Europe, vocals by TJ Davis.
Sonic Adventure 2 composed by Jun Senoue.
The game features vocalists Tony Harnell, Ted Poley, Marlon Saunders, Nikki Gregoroff and Johnny Gioeli, and new vocalists Tabitha Fair, Todd Cooper, Paul Shortino, Everett Bradley, Kaz Silver and Hunnid-P. Crush 40 (consisting of Senoue and Gioeli).
CHAO
If these little creatures made a cameo in the new movie, that would be awesome.
