Batman (1989) first introduced Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne / Batman, with Jack Nicholson as The Joker.  It has a 72% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Batman Returns (1992) has a 80% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It features Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman, and Danny Devito as The Penguin.

Both films had massive summer time marketing campaigns, and kicked off DC Comics and Warner Bros. superhero movie legacy setting the model for other comic movie adaptations, and blockbuster series to follow.
