MOVIES | HALLOWEEN HIPSTER HORROR MOVIES TO WATCH
Hipsters invade horror cinema
They don’t make horror movies like they used to. Well, these filmmakers are trying to, whether with in-your-face throwbacks to 1970s, 1980s horror cinema, as an excuse to dress the actors in retro vintage clothes, or with camera moves and cinematography that bring to mind classic horror, this generation of horror films looks to the past for inspiration with the modern twist.
Honeymoon (2014)
Moody times for these newly weds. Honeymoon released in 2014 and directed by Leigh Janiak. It’s all about the newly wed relationship, but it evolves into something unexpected.
It Follows (2015)
Very retro, but it’s set in modern day. Just what could be following these students. It Follows was a hit with critics and moviegoers. It will make you paranoid!
The House of the Devil (2009)
Very Very Retro. A student accepts a babysitting gig at a rural home.
The House of the Devil and The Innkeepers has the throwback style. There’s something very Kevin Smith about the characters in both films.
The Innkeepers (2011)
Two hotel employees try to prove ghosts are haunting the hotel.
AS ABOVE, SO BELOW (2014)
Hipsters like backpacking. Hipsters like Paris, and they also like the Catacombs! This Blair Witch style movie takes the viewer to the famous catacombs of Paris. What lies below will surprise you!
