CONTRA

Yes, that Contra. The Konami videogame originally appearing in arcade form, and then on the Nintendo Entertainment System. The side scrolling action game which debuted in 1987 was advanced home gaming entertainment back then, and still holds up today.

National Entertainment Collectibles Association (NECA) has come out with a retro gaming toy series that puts the heroes of Contra in the spotlight. The two characters actually have names, Bill and Lance. They stand 7″ tall, with pixel style painting.

The characters are based on movie action heroes from back in the day. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone. The red and blue colors come from the 1-player and 2-player  identification common with arcade games.

These Contra toys will be available April 2016.

The term Contra comes from the military use in the 1980’s, 90’s, a Spanish word which means against, contrarrevolucion or Counter Revolution.
